Khmer Brahmin Priests in the Thai Court

Eight white-clad Khmer Brahmin priests perform sacred rites before the Thai King and Queen. After the devastation of Angkor Vat in 1431 by Siamese troops, the upstart neighbouring Thai royal court at Ayudhya began recruiting Khmer brāhmin families as political advisors, scientists, astrologers, artists, doctors, and conductors of sacred Hindu rites.
