Goddess Prajñāpāramitā Stone sculpture, Eastern Java, ca.1300 CE. Rijksmuseum voor Volkenkunde, Leyden.
Prajñāpāramitā is typically described as the
"Goddess of the Perfection of Wisdom." The devi (goddess) is
identified by her characteristic mudrā (ritual gesture) called
dharmachakrapravartana, or "turning the wheel of the dharma (law)."
The palm-leaf text on the lotus whose stem she holds, represents the
Prajñāpāramitā-sūtra. |
